Who Would Benefit?
This program is designed for staff who have academic, managerial and administrative responsibility for the development and maintenance of high quality courses.

It is relevant for:

Why Attend?
A diverse set of leadership capabilities is required to manage the size and complexity of modern university courses, and to understand the teaching and learning higher education environments in which they exist. Course coordinators require sound pedagogical knowledge, coupled with a range of interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills including conflict-resolution, course management and review, coaching, and change management skills.

Research indicates that staff assume a course coordination role for a range of reasons (e.g. discipline expertise, staff rotations, leadership attributes), but are often under-prepared for the realities of the role. This program focuses on developing these leadership and management skills so that course coordinators are more confident in undertaking this complex and challenging responsibility.

What does it involve?
The program is a series of ten 2 hour modules facilitated by staff with expertise in leadership development and curriculum design and review. The sessions will be highly interactive and participants will have opportunities to draw on their experiences and share issues in addition to involvement in peer coaching and reflective practice. A range of resources will be available, including self-directed online learning resources. Pre and post-program activities will also be included to encourage and evaluate personal leadership development.
